Do it your-self C5 Style Big Brake Kit
$389 as pictured above- includes front lug nuts
Build your own Big Brake Kit will include:
*Laser Cut C5 Brake Caliper brackets $69
We have brackets to use Either C5/C6 calipers, or 98-02 Camaro Calipers. The C5/C6 bracket will allow ANY brake kit that came on a C5/C6 Corvette to fit a 2nd gen spindle. The 98-02 Camaro bracket MUST be used with the C5 12.88" rotor ONLY.
*Custom Machined hubs to adapt C5 rotors Not sold seperately (Can be used with ALL 2nd gen and B body spindles, does not include bearings.) This is NOT a cut down STOCK hub. A cut down stock hub will NOT work with our brackets and will increase the track width if used.
*Braided steel conversion Brake Lines $75 front only- rear add $35. These lines have the correct metric banjo on one end and the correct female flare on the other to mount to your existing hard lines. Stock C5 lines will not connect your existing hard lines.
*Bearings and dust seals $69 (must specify which outer bearing YOUR spindle uses, either .750" or .850") We use quality parts. Typically 1970-78 have a .750" ID outer bearing, and the 79-81 uses a .850" ID outer bearing.
Complete Conversion Kit $389 save $$$$(includes above parts to convert your 2nd gen F-body or B-body to C5 Corvette Brakes. Includes a set of 10 12mm extended reach lug nuts pictured below. Does not include Calipers and abutment brackets, rotors, or pads, which YOU can purchase from ANYWHERE, we provide the custom conversion parts only. Kit includes Quality bearings, and grade 8 hardware. Requires spindle modification, which can be performed by you, or we can modify your spindles for $90 pair, plus shipping. Instructions included with kit.
**Kit will not effect track width, conversion hubs come with metric 12mm lug studs installed, which may require longer studs to fit some wheels, we also have extended reach lug nuts to correct this. Hubs come with set 34 bearing race installed, if using with 70-78 style spindles with .75" outer bearing, race and bearing must be changed to outer bearing race included with kit.
Kit add ons

Standard Plain rotors $49 each
Economy drilled and slotted rotors $79 each (matches our delux rear kit)

Extended reach lug nuts!!!
These are recommended to be used with our C5 brake kits. They feature an extended tip that reaches into the wheel about an additional 1/4" to ensure there is enough stud engagement. Much easier and cheaper than installing longer studs. Lug nuts feature the correct 12mm thread for our conversion hubs, with a reduced 3/4" hex to fit the holes in your wheels, Chrome. 1 set includes 10 nuts for both front or rear wheels.

C5 brake set up VS. Stock
As you can see the difference is amazing. Rotor is 13" x 1.25", while the stock is 11" x 1". Even though the rotor is MUCH larger, the weight of the C5 set up as installed is approx 1 pound lighter.
The Test Results Are In- We tested them for YOU
The Tests are in!!!!!!
For many years I used the 12" kit with Wilwood stock style calipers, race type pads, and power assist booster. Due to poor "feel" on the track I went to larger rotors and dual piston calipers and converted to manual brakes. The feel was much better but I lost a lot of brake torque at the wheels and the car was very difficult to stop. I have since added the dual master cylinder set up. I was able to use a smaller bore master cylinder front and rear than I could with a traditional "tandum" unit. As a result I was able to increase brake torque by approx 24% at the wheels. I use this calculator as a tool to calculate changes in brake force to see how components affect performance.

You'd be suprised how little many of those so called "big brake" kits increase your brake force. Here is how the braking performance of our car has been changed by these kits
Stock power brakes cheapo pads 60-0mph 150 feet
12" upgrade, Power, Wilwood single calipers, Hawk HP Plus pads 60-0mph 134 feet (tires were limiting factor, easily locked)
13" with dual calipers, manual dual masters, EBC Yellow pads, 60-0mph 126 feet (brake control very good)
For a street driven car, I always recomend Power Boosted brakes. For a car that sees more track than street I would recomend a manual brake set up, power brakes tend to give the brakes a "numb" feel. this can cause you to over brake, resulting in poor cornering and overheated brakes!
Brake performance is very important on the street as well as the track, my kits are just suggestions and offer you an idea of what you may be able to obtain. There are many factors which may affect the performace achieved by any of these systems. If you have any questions please call or Email.
